Equipment

  • Pizza Peel
  • Pizza Cutter
  • Large Bowl
  • Rolling Pin

Ingredients

For the pizza dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the chimichurri sauce:

  • 1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the toppings:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preparing the Pizza Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • Add the warm water and olive oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.

Making the Chimichurri Sauce

  • In a bowl, combine the chopped parsley, minced garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and red pepper flakes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Mix well and set aside to let the flavors meld.

Assembling and Baking the Pizza

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to fit your pizza pan or stone.
  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  • Arrange the sliced tomatoes and red onions on top.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

The Final Touch

  • Remove the pizza from the oven.
  • Drizzle the chimichurri sauce generously over the hot pizza.
  • Scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
  • Slice and serve immediately while it's hot and the cheese is gooey!
